Dear Londonderry Staff and Families:
We wanted to make you aware that on September 14th, 2026, a complaint was filed with the State of New Hampshire that the North School Cafeteria was serving expired Land-O-Lake’s cheese cups to our students. On September 15th, 2026, a state inspector came to both North Elementary School and Londonderry High School (where we store much of our food) and determined that the complaint was unfounded. We realize there was a lot of misinformation circling on social media yesterday so we just want to say clearly that we do not serve expired food to our students, and it was great to see that we did so well on our surprise inspection. An official press release on the incident can be found here: PRESS RELEASE Unfounded Dining Cheese 9-16-26.pdf
Our Food Services Department works very hard every day to serve the more than 3800 students in our schools healthy, nutritious, and great tasting meals over the school year. They are a very dedicated staff, who care deeply for all of our students, and I want to personally thank them for the great job that they do and their professionalism over the last few days with this complaint and false claims that surfaced. I hope all our students, families, and community at large can take the time to thank them and realize what a great service they provide to our students and community every day.
I would also like to take the time to review how we solve problems as they arise in Londonderry. We have a very collaborative staff at all levels who always strive to work through issues brought to their attention. On our parent hub (found directly on our main website) you will find the following flow chart that asks students, parents, and community members to bring issues to the staff member with the most direct contact to that issue. This process allows for quick and productive problem-solving. If that staff member is not able to reach a good resolution, then that problem works its way up the chain of command until we can reach a resolution. I do believe this process has helped bring stronger communication practices and trust between our schools and community over many years now. Please continue to follow this process when other issues arise.
Sincerely,
Dan Black, Superintendent
