Good afternoon:
As we are in the thick of New England winter weather, we thought it was worth highlighting how we alert families, staff, and the community when we are delaying or cancelling school:
- We use the School Messenger system to text, email, and call all student families and staff at about 5am. Active family contacts are synced through our Student Management System. If you are receiving this email, you are subscribed.
- We create a blog post with the information, which delivers the post to those signed up for the blog, the front page of the www.londonderry.org website, and our official District Facebook page simultaneously https://www.facebook.com/londonderrynhschooldistrict . Anyone in the community can subscribe to the blog to get the email notifications of blog information here: https://news.londonderry.org/subscribe/
- We alert WMUR. www.wmur.com
- We post on the official elementary and LMS/LHS Facebook sites https://www.facebook.com/groups/128624040248038/ and https://www.facebook.com/groups/615916022434309 (you need to be added to the groups to see these pages).
We replicate this information in these four areas to make sure we communicate the info to all stake holders or to cover us in the event that one of the areas has a glitch. We apologize as, unfortunately, we did have a glitch with WMUR this morning, which resulted in a later alert on WMUR, but the other areas were covered around 5am. If you suspect a glitch in the future, it is worth checking out the other areas for certainty.
Sincerely,
Dan Black, Superintendent
